Look for schools that have instructors that actually work in the field of care giving. These schools are best suited for teaching the fundamentals of medical and patient care and especially the compassionate aspect of elderly care. Select a reputable school which is certified by the Department of Human Services. The lessons and skill sets taught by these schools will prepare you better for the State Certification program. Prior to August of 2012 the exams were administered by the American Red Cross. Currently, Prometric is the administrator for the CNA exams. Prometric has established various test sites across the island. Test locations can be found on their web site, www.prometric.com. The written test is now administered online via a computer terminal. Multiple questions are displayed on screen where the student selects their choice with a click of the mouse. The patient skills segment of the exam has been expanded to include verbalization while demonstrating skill sets. Advanced Care Training has revised its course to include this broader requirement for its skills curriculum.
